first_imgIt’s nice to succeed. When you feel that you’ve truly accomplished something, it’s the greatest feeling in the world. Think of success like a busy commute. The majority of people get by, but some end up on the side of the road. While we each have our own definition of what success looks like for us, you definitely don’t want to end up like the guy in the ditch. Here are five things you won’t see a successful person do . . .They don’t blame others for their shortcomings: Successful people know that if you blame others for your own mistakes, you’ll never be able to feel in control of your life. Succeeding is about learning and sometimes the greatest way to learn is to fail. If you want to be successful, accept and learn from the mistakes that you’ve made. Your future self will be glad you did. They aren’t afraid to seek assistance: When you’re starting out, you may know a little about some things, but you definitely don’t know a lot about everything. Be smart enough to realize that you can’t become the best version of yourself without a little help along the way. Whether it’s from mentors or co-workers, you’ll need a few assists from time to time. They don’t get stuck in the past: If you want to move forward in your career, sometimes you have to let go of the past. Being successful requires the guts to take a chance every now and then. Don’t be afraid. Just because you experienced failure before, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t take a risk again. They don’t fear change: For some, change is fun, and for others, it’s never easy. If you’re part of the latter group, focus on the change as an exciting opportunity with amazing possibilities. When you embrace new challenges, you’re opening yourself up to something that could possibly change your life for the better. They don’t give up: Most people don’t find themselves becoming an overnight success. It’s a lot of work and it takes intestinal fortitude. It’s cliché to say “when the going gets tough, the tough get going,” but it’s so true. You’ll never accomplish your goals if you give up. You have to keep pushing while keeping your eye on the prize. 381SHARESShareShareSharePrintMailGooglePinterestDiggRedditStumbleuponDeliciousBufferTumblr,John Pettit John Pettit is the Managing Editor for CUInsight.com.
