He is the son of Ernest Sr. and Thelma Swift. He was born and raised in the great city of Apopka. He was married to Mollie Swift until God called her home. He has a son, Othellus Swift and a daughter, Tangela Thomas. He has 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.Ernest C. SwiftAt Phyllis Wheatley, Swift was on the football and basketball team. His position was tight end, wide receiver and for basketball, it was forward. After graduating from Phyllis Wheatley High School, he matriculated to Bethune Cookman College where he played football and basketball. He was also an outstanding power forward for the Apopka Royals semi-pro basketball team.He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education from Bethune Cookman College and later earned his Master’s degree from Rollins College. Swift went into Education. He has made a great impact in many students’ lives in the Orange County Public School System. His Teaching background: Elementary Education; 4th grade, Robinswood Junior High; Physical Education, Jones High School; Dean and Head football Coach and at Apopka High School he served as Assistant Principal. He spent many years mentoring and making a difference in a child’s life. He loves sports and love being an alumnus of BCC.Coach Swift will receive a special recognition from former student-athletes at the Enshrinement Luncheon.
